Bruno Stagno Ugarte

Bruno Stagno Ugarte ( born April 8, 1970 in Paris ) is a Costa Rican diplomat and politician.

Biography

After school he graduated from 1988 to 1992 studied political science at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, which he finished in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in International Relations. He then studied at the University of Paris III and graduated in 1994 with a Masters in Political Sociology from. In 2001, he also concluded from post-graduate studies at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University with a master's degree in political science.

After his return to Costa Rica, he entered the diplomatic service. Initially it was between 1994 and 1998 General and Counsellor at the Embassy in France. Then he was assessor in the State Department and also a member and secretary of the qualification commission for the diplomatic service for a short time. From 1998 to 2002 then he worked as a Head of Cabinet of Minister of Foreign Affairs Roberto Rojas López.

In addition to these activities, he was also in 1999 professor at the Universidad Latina and then from 2001 to 2002 Professor of Political Science at the Universidad de Costa Rica ( UCR).

In 2002 he was appointed as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. Stagno spoke it alongside the USA crucial for a global ban on cloning from. On 8 May 2006 Stagno by President Óscar Arias Sánchez was appointed foreign minister. In his capacity as Foreign Minister, he was committed to a particular for entry into force of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. After just four years in office, he was succeeded on 8 May 2010 René Castro Salazar as Secretary of State.
