BS 25999

The BS 25999 standard is a British Standard on the subject of business continuity management (English Business Continuity Management ). It is divided into a " Code of Practice " and " Specification" section, the first part is BS 25999-1:2006 published final for the first time in December 2006. The part " Specification", BS 25999-2:2007, appeared in late 2007 and also allows the certification to the standard.

History of Standards

Predecessor was the PAS56 (Public available standard). The standard was developed by practitioners worldwide to provide a systematic approach to implement a business continuity management on the basis of a life cycle.

Equivalent national and international standards

In Germany, the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), an equivalent standard BSI 100-4 is available as part of the IT Baseline Protection. A comparable international standard within the ISO 22301 series, the ISO standard is, as well as some approaches in the existing standard ISO 27001.
