Bublik

Bubliki (Russian бублики, singular: the bublik ) are soft curls from slightly sweetened white bread dough, known mainly in Russia and Ukraine, but also in the Baltic States ( in Lithuanian Riestainis they are called ).

Their characteristic shape can probably be explained from the fact that they can be easily transported on a rod or cord. In the 19th century Moscow and St. Petersburg street vendor with his head hung to Bubliki - cords have greatly contributed to the spread of this pastry.
