Buchholz is a district of the county town of Stendal in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ).

Geography

Buchholz in the southeast of the Altmark is located on the Tangermünder - Buchholz mountain range, the valleys dominated by up to 40 meters between the lamp and the Tanger. The district Bucholz is about eight kilometers from the city of Stendal.

History

Around 1140, the Romanesque church of the village was built. For the first time the place Buchholz was mentioned in a chronicle in 1209.

Thanks to its convenient location on the road connecting Magdeburg -Stendal Buchholz was an attractive place to live in the past few years, several homes re-emerged.

Until 31 December 2009, Buchholz was a separate municipality.

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Buchholz decided on 9 June 2009 that the community Buchholz is incorporated into the town of Stendal. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

After the incorporation of the previously independent community Buchholz Buchholz was a district of the town of Stendal. For powered finished my community the village constitution according to § § 86 et seq of the Municipal Code of Saxony -Anhalt has been introduced. The inserted end to my community Buchholz and future district Buchholz was the village of the host city of Stendal. Structures

The fieldstone built with a powerful cross- tower Buchholz village church is increased on the western edge of the village street. Her oldest inventory item is a font from the 12-13. Century.

Traffic

Through the district Buchholz leads the federal highway 189, the main north -south connection in northern Saxony-Anhalt.

There buses stop and call buses of the regional transport company West Saxons ( RVW ) stendalbus under the brand name. In the near Stendal consist train connections to Hanover, Berlin, Magdeburg and Schwerin.
