Bucket brigade

The bucket is a principle of the transport of liquids and solids.

Originated the concept of the ancient method of water transport is by a human chain. Typically available in the bucket persons at a distance of about one meter side by side and shake buckets. Thus, the or the bucket is from the first person in the chain ( for example, at a fountain ) passed through to the last ( for example on a fire ).

The longest bucket chain in the world was carried out on 23 July 2011 in Pfullingen as part of the 40th anniversary of the youth fire brigade. Here, a total of 869.2 liters of water was transported over a distance of 4589.75 meters by 5239 participants.

In the same way bricks were transported during Enttrümmern in postwar Germany. In the construction of sandbag walls Floods the sandbags are transported often in the same way ( at least over the last few meters at delivery by truck or the like. ).

In mechanical engineering, the principle in the design of the bucket chain excavator was used.

The bucket is often used in the art as an explanatory model (eg, charge coupled device ), see bucket brigade.
