History

The originally open stadium in České Budějovice was built in 1946 and was to Prague and Bratislava, the third stadium of Czechoslovakia, which was equipped at this time with an ice surface. 21 years later, the stadium was covered. As of 2001, the conversion of the old hall began. However, the reconstruction work was delayed because the object located near the Vltava river was badly damaged in August 2002 by the destructive flood of the century.

The reconstructed ice rink was renamed in Budvar Aréna after the completion of the renovation work by the local Budvar Brewery, which is one of the sponsors of the Czech Extraliga simultaneously. Since the upgrade, see the hall 6,421 spectators, of which 551 standing places and 5,870 seats. In addition to the main ice rink, there is another workout that can accommodate up to 200 spectators.

In April 2005, the Under-18 World Championship in ice hockey took place in the arena.
