Bueng Kum District

Bueng Kum ( Thai บึงกุ่ม, bɯ̄ŋ KUM ) is one of the 50 districts ( Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Bueng Kum is a district in the eastern suburb of the Sukhapiban 1 Road.

Geography

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Bang Khen, Khan Na Yao, Saphan Sung, Bang Kapi, and Lat Phrao.

Etymology

Bueng Kum is named after a lake ( Bueng means " lake "), which is used as a retention basin during floods. In and around the lake there are many plants that are called Kum ( Crataeva hygrophila ). The lake is now part of the public Seri Thai Park.

History

Bueng Kum was separated from the district Bang Kapi on 4 September 1989, and then consisted of the sub-districts Khlong Kum, Saphan Sung, Khan Na Yao and. On 14 October 1997 Khan Na Yao and Saphan Sung were appointed to their own districts, so that at the time only Khlong Kum via remained as a single sub-district.

Two new districts were announced on 21 September 2009 in the Royal Gazette: Nuamin and Nuan Chan.

The council of the district Bueng Kum has seven members, each member shall be elected for four years. The last election was held on 30 April 2006 the results. :
