Bukhara Province

The Bukhara Province ( Bukhara usbek. Viloyati, German province of Bukhara) is a province of Uzbekistan. It has about 1,622,873 inhabitants (as of 2008) and an area of ​​39.4 thousand km ². About two thirds of the province's population live in the villages.

Structure

The provincial capital is Bukhara ( Bukhara dt ). Administratively, the province is divided into 11 counties and the three independent cities Bukhara, Gijduvon and Kogon.

Geography

The Bukhara province is located mostly in the Kyzyl Kum desert and is characterized by an arid, continental climate. It borders the provinces of Uzbekistan Alisher Navoi, Qashqadaryo, Xorazm, the Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Turkmen region Lebap.

In the province of Bukhara there are large reserves of natural gas ( in Gazli ), oil deposits, graphite deposits and bentonite. The dominant industries provide oil refineries and the textile industry dar.
