Bukhuti Gurgenidze

Buchuti Gurgenidze (Georgian ბუხუტი გურგენიძე, Russian Бухути Иванович Гургенидзе, also Bukhuti Gurgenidze; born November 13, 1933, Surami, Inner Kartli, Georgia, † 23 May, 2008 Tbilisi ) was a Georgian, former Soviet chess grandmaster.

Buchuti Gurgenidze was in 1966 awarded by the FIDE International Master title in 1970 and the title of Grand Master. He won twelve times the individual championship of the Georgian SSR: 1955, 1958-1965, 1968, 1970 and 1973 Between 1957 and 1958, he won the Soviet team, the World Student Championship.. Later, he coached several Georgian top players, including Maia Tschiburdanidse and Nana Alexandria. In the 1990s, he was also vice president of the Georgian Chess Federation.
