Bull City Red
Bull City Red, actually, George Washington, was an American blues musician from Durham, North Carolina, which is also known as " Bull City".
Bull City Red was a virtuoso on the washboard. About his life little is known. He led a group of Blind Boy Fuller, Sonny Terry and Reverend Gary Davis belonged to a blind trio with washboard player. Red, Fuller and Terry made with guitarist Sonny Jones also some gospel recordings as Brother George and His Sanctified Singers.
Between 1935 and 1939, Bull City Red made a series of recordings in which he also played guitar and sang. Early 1940, according to Fuller's death, recordings followed, among others with Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee.
