The Federal Highway 293 (abbreviated as BAB 293) - Short form: Highway 293 (abbreviated as A 293 ) - is an urban motorway, which runs largely on the territory of the city of Oldenburg, in its northern section, however, lies in the Ammer country. Together with the A 28 and A 29 A 293 allows a circumnavigation of Oldenburg on highways.

Course

The A 293 branches at the junction Oldenburg -west on the A28 and goes into the A 29 and B 211 at the Oldenburg - North about. The former leads to Wilhelmshaven, the latter about Loy to Brake. Vehicles from the opposite direction are connected with the western districts of Oldenburg, the western and southern Ammer country, the northern parts of the Oldenburger Munsterland country and the Emsland and with Ostfriesland.

At the exit Oldenburg- Nadorst the Nordtangente branches. The northern bypass connects the districts of Ohmstede and Nadorst with the A 28 and A 29

History

The section between the junction Oldenburg -west and the junction Oldenburg- Nadorst runs along the route of the former state highway 69, which was expanded two-lane and not crossing-free. The northern section between Oldenburg and the cross - Nadorst Oldenburg North was built on a new alignment. This was the Nadorster road and the high road in Wilhelmshaven Oldenburg, where formerly the B 69, the city of Oldenburg and the left today are parallel to the A 293, relieved of through traffic.
