Federal Highway 86 (abbreviated BAB 86) - Short form: Highway 86 ( Abbreviation: A 86 ) - was the project name of a planned highway from Breisach about Freiburg im Breisgau - Titisee - Donaueschingen - Tuttlingen - Riedlingen - Ehingen ( Danube) - Ulm to Langenau.

The execution was in 1975 in favor of the B 31 East including a Freiburg city tunnel discarded. The partial route Freiburg - Donaueschingen was as high Black Forest Highway ( the Black Forest Highway see also Federal Highway 84) respectively.

However, there is a built section, namely the A 864 between Donaueschingen and the triangle Bad Durrheim, which today serves as a feeder to the A 81. In the late 1970s meant today as B 31a -run portion of the exit Freiburg-Mitte to the exit Freiburg- feudal A 860
