The Federal Highway 999 (abbreviated as BAB 999) - Short form: Highway 999 (abbreviated as A 999) - was originally planned as motorway ring around Munich. The planning was abandoned, the ring road the A99 was instead realized.

History

In the urban development plan of 1963 beltway around Munich was provided. This is indeed merely referred to in the text as an outer highway ring on the attached map, however it is drawn as a beltway.

The planned motorway ring road was much narrower than the planned later realized Autobahn 99 and should run almost entirely on the Munich city area. Just to the south of the ring should be outside the city limits, the local history is not recorded in the City Development Plan.

After the urban development plan of the ring should have on urban area of ​​Munich the following course: from the motorway Salzburg (now A 8) from the planned relief settlement Perlachturm around, along the Peace Promenade, west at the Munich- Riem airport past and in the bow to Johanneskirchen around on the Leintalerbrücke to BAB Nuremberg (now a 9), from there just north displaced over Heidemannstraße and Rathenaustraße north on Fasaneriesee over to an investigation begun before the Second world War section of a planned motorway ring in Allach and Langwied (Munich), the already existing long re- clover junction with the motorway Stuttgart ( A 8 today ), continue to Aubing and the planned relief settlement Freiham along the city limits.
