Bunefer

Bunefer is the name of an ancient Egyptian queen of the 4th dynasty during the Old Kingdom. It is uncertain, with whom she was romantically involved.

Identity

Bunefer and wore royal titles such as " Bodily King's Daughter" ( satellite nesu -en- chetef ), " Royal Wife " and " priestess of Hathor ."

Your kinship to the royal family, however, are unclear. Since it is known in her grave as dead priestess of Pharaoh Shepseskaf, there was probably at least a closer link to this ruler. So it is partially regarded as his wife, but sometimes also as his daughter. Some Egyptologists, however, see it as wife of King Thamphthis whose existence is disputed.

In her grave also a son named, whose name is preserved only incomplete. Again, the actual kinship relationship is unclear since it only held lower offices, which was unusual for the son of a queen. Since the relief in question was clearly attached later, it can be assumed that this was merely perpetuate a distant relative.

Tomb

Bunefer heard a rock grave on the Central Field in Giza. It was discovered in 1931/32 by Selim Hassan. The grave has a unique compared with contemporary systems architecture. It has two inputs, one of which leads into a narrow eastern corridor, the western in a long room, into the bottom of which there are two shafts. The front part of this room was originally an unfinished grave, which was only later associated with the investment of Bunefer. The rear part is bordered to the west by the sanctuary of the tomb. There is a large opening that was created for a funeral at a later time on the north wall of the worship space. In the southern part of the room is a shaft leading down to the sarcophagus chamber. This contained an unlabeled limestone sarcophagus.
