Within an area of 1.7 km ² 16,295 inhabitants (as of 30 June 2011). The population density is thus 9736 inhabitants per km ².
Patron saint of the village is Nossa Senhora Mãe de Deus.

Economy
In the extreme south of the community is one of the main shopping streets, Grande Lisboa, it also extends to the communities Alfragide and especially Carnaxide in the county Oeiras.

The community is home to the Força Aérea Portuguesa Chiefs of Staff ( Portuguese Air Force ), the headquarters of the Instituto Nacional de Engenharia, Tecnologia e Inovação (National Institute for Engineering, Technology and Innovation ) and the DirecçãoGeral do Ambiente ( Environment Agency).
