Burg Bruck

Bruck Castle is located in the southern Tyrol in the urban area of the district capital Lienz. It is built on a hill that clings to the mountain of Lienz Hochstein. The castle was the residence of the Counts of Gorizia from about 1278 to the year 1500. It has a chapel with frescoes by Simon von Taisten. Since 1943 it serves as a museum of Lienz.

History

The oldest finds, including two hatchets made ​​of copper or bronze, which refer to the settlement around the Castle, are about 3000 years old. The Bruck Castle was built in the years 1252-1277 by the Counts of Gorizia, and served them to the year 1500 as a residence. Museum

Today the castle is a museum of the city of Lienz and hosts many of the images coming from Lienz painter Albin Egger -Lienz.
