Burg Grub

P3

The Grub Castle is a castle from the 11th century in the village on the Great Grub Taffa, about 2 km south-west of knives in Lower Austria's Waldviertel. As the castle was no longer transformed after 1500, it still shows their late-medieval character. At the castle include the castle keep, the remains of the great hall and the chapel rebuilt.

In 1970, the couple Franz Joseph ( 1914-2006 ) and Maria Magdalena Hampapa acquired the ruin Grub for 45,000 shillings, to protect them from demolition. In the following years, the foundation was set for the present appearance of the castle by the work of the owners and volunteers. Thus, numerous valuable components are secured and preserved. Franz Josef Hampapa, who was in a wheelchair, the castle was known to continue with the request that they obtain in the medieval style.

It was partly under the supervision of the Federal Monuments Office and after consultation by members of the Technical University in Vienna (see chapel ) restored.
