Castle Lichtwerth

The castle Lichtwerth ( in other notation also Lichtwehr, light level, light value, exposure value and Lichtenwörth ) stands between Munster and Brixlegg in the municipality of Münster, the district of Kufstein in Tyrol. The syllable " worthy " for " island ", suggests that the castle once stood on an island in the Inn. Due to the regular structure and bricked Romanesque window can be closed on a construction in the 12th century. The first written references were made already in 1212 and 1249, respectively.

The stronghold on a rectangular floor plan includes an outer bailey to the west with farm buildings. To the east are the keep and three-storey palace, which was renewed in the 18th century. The tower of the castle was trimmed in the 17th century. Among the highlights of the system include the vaulted kitchen with the establishment displaying original, the battlements obtained, the baroque castle theater ( 1765 ) and the clock on the inner gate. Similarly, the exchange of a judge is obtained, which once here at the castle had its headquarters. The castle chapel, which was decorated in 1776 with stucco in the style of the Rococo, represents the easternmost branch of the Diocese of Innsbruck

Since 1879, the castle Lichtwerth is privately owned by the family of Inama - Sternegg and can not be visited.
