The Neulengbach Castle is a hill fort in a dominant position on a cliff top above the city Neulengbach in the Austrian district of Sankt Pölten-Land. The castle - palace complex is a three-storey Vieleckbau with double weir ring and eight round towers, a porch with a magnificent Renaissance portal and a courtyard with Tuscan double columns and stone fountain basin.

History

The Neulengbach castle was founded together with the market from the high of outdoor Lengenbach around the year 1189. The castle became the center of the local rule of the Lengenbach Bacher. After extinction of the Lengenbach Bacher in 1236 it came into the possession of Babenberg. In the late Middle Ages castle Neulengbach seat of sovereign carers and often pledged. 1565 was Rudolf Khuen of Belasy the rule Neulengbach. Under Baron Khuen the castle at the beginning of the 17th century was generously extended to a residential castle.

In January 1912, a fire raged in the castle. The entire interior was destroyed. 1920 purchased by the City of Vienna, the castle and used it as a children's home. 1952 follows the castle club Neulengbach as the owner, and 1962 Martin Wakonig.
