Burg an der Alz ( officially: Burgkirchen ad Alz ) is the largest community in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting without city or market law.

Geographical Location

Castle churches located on the Alz, about 9 km south Altöttings ( on Mörnbach ) and Neuoetting ( am Inn ) and 9 kilometers west of Burghausen ( Salzach at the ). The municipality is bordered to the west by Garching ad Alz; to the north by Unterneukirchen and Kastl; to the east by Emmerting, Mehring and Burghausen; to the south by St. Radegund (BR, Upper Austria, A) Tittmoning ( district of Traunstein ), Halsbach and Kirchweidach.

History

The first mention of the church than 790 Pohkirch in a freight directory of the diocese of Salzburg. 1808 Castle Church was an independent municipality. 1871 the municipality had 291 inhabitants. Between 1916 and 1922 the Alz Canal was built.

1897 Castle Church was connected to the railway line Mühldorf -Burghausen.

The purely Farming 500 - strong village learned from 1939 with the construction of the chemical plant Wittgendorf, in 1941 its production operation, a fundamental structural change.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1969, a part of the then independent municipality Gufflham was incorporated. On January 1, 1970, the municipality Villages was added. On January 1, 1978 parts of the territory of the dissolved municipalities shepherds Raitenhaslach and Unterneukirchen as well as a branch of community Kastl were added.

The emblem of the existing economic conditions in the community are represented. The coat of arms is so far out in the same or similar form by any other municipality in Bavaria. The scythe blade points to the previously exclusively agricultural character of the community. Even today there are some 150 peasant farms which dot the landscape in stately Vierseithöfen, in deserts or hamlets. The retort (factory Wittgendorf ) that secures the economic livelihood of the majority of the population and many commuters for the community since 1940 in the field bloomed important chemical industry.

The formal friendship treaties are equivalent to the partnership agreement with Wingen -sur -Moder.

Media

Radio ISW emerged from a public company formation, in which everyone could participate. This ultimately led to a large pluralistic circle of around 30 different interests, which merged to form the " Inn -Salzach - wave GmbH". The folk high schools Alt- Neuoetting and Burghausen belong to it, as is the district education work Rottal -Inn- Salzach River and District Association Oberbayern the workers' welfare.

The first broadcast took place on June 6, 1988 from Burg an der Alz, coinciding with radio Mühldorf. The " Inn -Salzach - wave GmbH" since October 1, 1986 has been producing local television programs and is one of the pioneers of commercial television. Recreation
