Burkhard Dallwitz

Burkhard von Dallwitz (also: Burkhard Dallwitz; born January 28, 1959 in Bad Homburg vor der Höhe ) is a German - Australian composer of film music.

Dallwitz began at the age of eight years with a classical piano training. At age 13 he wrote his first compositions, from the age of 15 he composed and arranged music for various bands and formations.

Since 1979 in Melbourne ( Australia) resident, in 1979, he began studying music at La Trobe University in Melbourne, where he graduated with Honours in Composition and then continued his training with Professor Keith Humble.

Since 1984 he has composed music for film, television and commercial productions in Australia. In 1996, he released his first instrumental CD, " Worlds Apart ".

He won the 1993 and the 1996 Screen Music Award of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers ( AGSC ), for which he was nominated again in 1998 and 2000. Together with Philip Glass, he won the 1999 Golden Globe Award for " Best Original Score in a Motion Picture " for The Truman Show. For this he received, among other things, the Chicago Film Critics Award and the ASCAP Film and Television Award. The soundtrack, composed by him reached number two on the film music charts.
