Burnham Thorpe

Burnham Thorpe is a municipality near the north coast of Norfolk, England. She is primarily known for being the birthplace of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, the victor at the Battle of Trafalgar, and one of the most famous heroes of England.

Nelson's father was pastor at the church. In this church from the 13th century are still a number of mementos of the greatest son of the town to see. On the outskirts is the land on which stood his birthplace until canceled in 1803. It is there even a fish pond in the form of an English ship of the line to see the Horatio Nelson is said to have created by hand.

The municipality is one of seven former neighboring places, all began with the name Burnham. Today it still exist Burnham Thorpe, Burnham Overy, Burnham Norton, Burnham Deepdale and Burnham Market.

The municipal area has a size of 9.56 km ², and had at the last census (2001), a population of 168 people in 81 households.
