The Business Activity Monitoring is not to be confused with Business Process Monitoring (BPM).

It provides detailed information on the status and results of a wide variety of operations, processes, and transactions so that business decisions prepared and problems can be addressed quickly.

Typical software in this area is ( overworked business process, high response times from end user perspective, exceeding service level agreements ), for example, be able to provide instant information about the state of business processes at the system level to report and submit them to the relevant authorities and serves as as a monitoring tool for business processes at the system level.
