Business Application Programming Interface

Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI ) is a standardized programming interface of the SAP Business Objects. BAPIs allow external programs to access the data and business processes in SAP ERP.

A BAPI is defined as a method of an SAP business object. Thus, an application program can use a BAPI method, it only needs to " know " as the method to call.

BAPIs are visible interfaces represent the component boundaries and provide the basis of their properties for the integration of these components.

BAPIs allow integration at the business and not on a technical level. Thus, a greater stability of the coupling and independence of the communication technology used is guaranteed.
