Busko-Zdrój

Busko -Zdrój [ buskɔ ' zdruɪ̯ ] ( listen? / I ) is a town in Poland, in the Province of the Holy Cross about 50 km south of Kielce. The place is an important health resort with continental climate, mineral springs and a bog.

History

In the 12th century a church was built on the site of the present St. Mary's Church. The first written reference 1166. 1393 the monastery was granted the right to operate its own thermal brine spa.

1267 was the settlement of the municipal law. 1393 held by the Polish king in the spa of the monastery.

In 1412 the town was granted the right to hold a weekly market and to organize twice a year a market fair. The cloth craft possessed great significance for the city in the 15th to 18th centuries.

1795 was the place with the third partition of Poland to Austria. Busko -Zdrój 1809 came to the Grand Duchy of Warsaw and in 1815 to the Kingdom of Poland. 1822 lived 648 people in the city, which officially allowed to wear the name of the spa in 1828. 1880 already lived 1,585 people here.

The city charter was Busko -Zdrój 1869-1916 withdrawn by the Russian Tsar. After the end of the First World War, the city came back into the newly created Poland. On September 9, 1939, the Germans reached the place and occupied it. Two Jewish ghettos were established in 1941.

The Red Army marched on 6 August 1944 in the place, but could not assert itself and was struck again six days later by the Germans and expelled from the place. On 12 January 1945 the Soviet Army launched again an attack on the city and was able to free the town on 13 January 1945.

Community

The urban and rural municipality has an area of 235.88 km ² and it is located about 32 562 people there ( 2001). To the community, shares in the landscape park Szaniec and the landscape park Nidagebiet.

Spa

In the surroundings of the place are mineral waters and a Moor, which serve as natural remedies. The water has anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, detoxifying and has a regenerative effect. It lowers cholesterol and sugar levels in the blood and prevents the atheroma before. Water is obtained by deep holes that are located on the territory of the spa; it can be found sulfide, bromide and Jodidwasser.
