Busso Peus

Busso Peus ( born January 19, 1908 in Münster, † November 5, 1979 ) was a German jurist and politician ( CDU). He was from 1952 to 1964 mayor of the city of Münster.

Life

Peus, son of Fritz Carl Peus, studied after high school in Heidelberg Law and became a member of K.St.V. Palatia Heidelberg in CT. In 1933 he received his doctorate and joined his father's law firm. In 1942 he was called up for military use, was captured in November 1946 and returned back to Münster.

As a member of the CDU in 1952 he was elected mayor of his hometown, and held this post until 1964. Peus played a significant role in the reconstruction of Münster and established national and international contacts and twinning. The city of Orléans Peus appointed in 1964 to their first foreign honorary citizen.

Peus worked as a lawyer and notary, was also a member of the Culture Committee of German Cities. When Cities North Rhine-Westphalia, he was a member of the school board. In the German -Dutch company, he served as Chairman. From 1960 to 1961 he also served as President of the Westphalian Riding Club.

He was with Anne Marie Peus (1916-2008), winner of the Order of Merit and the Paul - Medal of the City of Münster, married.
