Butch Vig

Butch Vig ( Bryan David Vigorson, born August 2, 1957 in Viroqua, Wisconsin, United States) is an American drummer and member of the band Garbage. Vig produced, among other rock bands like Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins.

Life

Butch Vig is the son of a teacher and a doctor. Very early on, he devoted himself to music, took piano lessons and was mainly influenced by bands such as The Who. After playing in some college bands, he abandoned his studies at the University of Wisconsin- Madison, in order to fully concentrate on the music. Butch's first, something namhaftere band was called " Eclipse ". A little later he founded with Steve Marker, Phil Davis and Tom Vorda another band called " First Person ".

In 1978 saw the founding of Spooner. Two albums (Every Corner Dance Mountain Railroad, Wildest Dreams ) and two singles were released until the year 1986. Duke Erikson was the frontman of these commercially less successful band that eventually disbanded in 1986.

He also produced alongside the garbage recordings also appeared in 1991 album Nevermind by Nirvana, the first two albums from the Smashing Pumpkins and other publications of Sonic Youth, Helmet and Soul Asylum, as well as published on 15 May 2009 album 21st Century Breakdown by Green Day and in 2011 released album Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters. In 2012, he went along with the former Nirvana members Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic back into the studio.
