Byfleet is a suburb of Woking in Surrey, England with a population of 6,995 ( 2001 census).

Geography

The village lies to the east of the Borough Woking on M25 Motorway between the rivers Wey and Mole.

History

Byfleet was in 1894 as an independent municipality (Civil Parish ) to Chertsey Rural District. After inclusion in the Urban District of Woking in 1933, the municipal council ( Parish Council ) was abolished. Since 1989 the town has again the status of a municipality and has a municipal council.

Traffic

With the Byfleet and New Haw railway station, the place has railway connection via Woking to Waterloo Station in London.
