Byron Stevenson

William Byron Stevenson ( born September 7, 1956 in Llanelli, Wales; † 6 September 2007) was a Welsh football player.

The midfielder, who was also used as a defender, began his football career in 1972 as a teenager at Leeds United. Until 1981 he remained loyal to this club and completed 95 league games in which he scored four goals. He then played four years at Birmingham City. In 73 league games, he came up with three goals. His career ended with the Bristol Rovers, for whom he played in the 1985/86 season, 31 times aground and scored three goals.

For the National team of Wales he came from 1978 to 1982 to fifteen countries stakes. In addition, he recorded various youth missions. Stevenson was known when he was placed in a European Championship qualifier in 1979 by court after he had his Turkish opponent smashed cheekbone. He was then imposed a four and a half year ban for European Championship matches, which probably cost him more international appearances.
