Byzantine (band)

Byzantine is an American Thrash-/Groove-Metal-Band from Charleston, West Virginia. The band released in the period from 2004 to 2008 3 studio albums.

Band History

The band was founded by three friends Chris " OJ" Ojeda, Tony Rorhbough and Cid Adams in 2000 as a small and fun pastime. After some time you had created a first demo without a drummer and this with a drum machine.

2001 then the next demo was recorded, which was dealt face up, reaching also the current drummer Matt Wolfe. This increased after the recording of the demo with a in the band.

End of 2002, the first time was then used a studio to record the next demos and so, after hard work the third work of the band. Their webmaster reached the demo Chris Adler from the band Lamb of God. Then Adler was so impressed by the band's music that he made them occur at a concert in Virginia as the opening band.

This appearance Prosthetic Records noticed her, where they are now under contract. The contract with Prosthetic Records gave the band the opportunity to record their first album. The Fundamental Component finally appeared in February 2004 and was traded from Uranium in the top 20 of the best metal albums of 2004.

In July of 2005, the second studio album ... And They Shall Take Up Serpents, which combines style classic metal and Southern Groove Elements and Meshuggah -like riffs together already appeared. After the release of the album bassist Cid Adams left the band and was replaced by longtime friend Michael " Skip" Cromer.

In January 2008, the group released their third and final studio album, Oblivion Beckons. Just a few days after publication, 26 January 2008, the band announced via MySpace their resolution.

In March 2010, the band will invariably be some reunion concerts in West Virginia. In the course of 2010, the band members have decided to revive the group again. New lead guitarist is Brian Henderson, who replaced Tony Rorhbough.

Style

Byzantine played by its own account a mixture of styles in both classic metal and Southern Groove elements as well as breaks and riffs as they can find about at Meshuggah, Pantera and Testament are incorporated. Furthermore, let certain stylistic similarities to Lamb of God, especially in the case of the last Byzantine studio album, recognize.
