C.-H. Hermansson

Carl -Henrik Hermansson ( born December 14, 1917 in Bollnäs ) is a former Swedish politician of the Vänsterpartiet ( Left Party ). He was from 1964 to 1975 Chairman of the Communist Party of Sweden ( SKP) / Left Party - Communists ( VPK ) and from 1963 to 1985 deputy in the Swedish Parliament.

Life

Carl -Henrik Hermansson, was born as the son of the merchant gottfrid Hermansson and his wife Hilma Johanna Hermansson, born Melander. He was married to Marta Krantz (1916-2001) and is the father of two daughters.

Since the 1930s, he was in the youth organization of the Swedish social democracy, committed the SSU ( Sveriges socialdemokratiska ungdomsförbund ), where he used particularly against fascist attempts to infiltrate the Swedish school system. While studying in Stockholm, where he graduated with a master's in political science, he was part of the socialist student organization Clarté.

Excluded in 1941 from the SSU, he joined the Communist Party of Sweden ( SKP). Since 1946 Hermanssson belonged to the Central Committee of the SKP and chronologically to the Politburo of the Central Committee. From 1953-61 he worked as a secretary for propaganda of the Central Committee. From 1946-57 he was chief editor of the var tid, a party newspaper, which dealt with the theoretical foundations of party work. From 1959 he headed Ny Dag, the main Communist daily newspaper in Sweden.

Politically Hermansson followed in the early 50s, the pro-Moscow party line. In particular, for the worship of Stalin, in his articles directly after his death in 1953 ( Hermansson also traveled to the funeral in Moscow) was expressed, he was heavily criticized later in the Swedish public.

Within the SKP heavy electoral defeat has been discussed in the local elections in 1962 as a result of close ties to the party in the Soviet Union. The crackdown on the uprising in Hungary in 1956, the construction of the Berlin Wall and, more generally, the Cold War had the Soviet Union increasingly discredited. The SKP broke away from the Soviet model now fleshed, consequently triggered the moderate Hermansson 1964 the more loyal to Moscow Hilding Hagberg as party chairman from. In subsequent years, as party chairman, he led the Swedish communists to a more critical stance moscow. He approached increasingly Euro -communist and partly social-democratic positions. 1967, the SKP was a new program, new statutes and changed its name to VPK, Vänsterpartiet communist nutrition ( Left Party - Communists ) in which the opening of the party to the Euro -communism and the integration of non-Communist Left should be reflected. Hermansson refused the entry of Soviet troops in Prague in 1968 sharply and was the keynote speaker a demonstration of the VPK against the suppression of the Prague Spring. In 1975, he was replaced as party leader Lars Werner.

Hermansson published political writings and books on the development of communism in Sweden.
