C. & J. Clark

Clarks is the largest shoe brand outside of the sports shoe lifestyle segment worldwide.

The parent C. and J. Clark Ltd is in the 11000 - person town Street ( about 44 km south-west of Bath) in the county of Somerset (England) resident. The foundation of the company goes back to the year 1825, when the Quaker brothers Cyrus and James Clark began the manufacture of shoes in Somerset.

The last production facility of Clarks in the UK was closed in April 2005. In the previous 15 years, the production was shifted to countries like Romania, India and China. In fiscal year 2004/2005 Clarks sold 45 million pairs of shoes worldwide and generated sales of 955 million pounds sterling.

Among the Clarks models there are some with special features. The Active -air Men's shoes have air bubbles in the soles, which are pressed together when walking. The Cushion - soft soles in women's shoes to be especially comfortable on the underside of the foot.
