C. J. Lewis

CJ Lewis, and CJ Lewis, ( real name: Steven James Lewis, born 1 February 1967 in Peckham ) is a British reggae singer, DJ and songwriter of Jamaican descent. His biggest hit was called Sweets for My Sweet, and was the 1994 cover version of the 1961s hit the Drifters.

Biography

At age fourteen put CJ Lewis as a disc jockey at street festivals. When he was sixteen years old, he moved with his parents to Jamaica, where he was brought close to the original reggae. The late 1980s, Lewis came back to London. A short time later, his first reggae singles were released on an independent label. Hypnotic Love and Why Do Fools Fall in Love? rose to high positions in the British reggae charts.

The breakthrough in the commercial charts succeeded in 1994 with the cover of the Drifters hits Sweets for My Sweet, which was successfully across Europe and in England, debuted at # 3.
