CA Timișoara

CA Timişoara was a Romanian football club based in Timişoara. He never played in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A but twice reached the second round at the Romanian Cup.

History

CA Timişoara (CAT ) was established in 1902 under the name FC Temesvár, as the city Timişoara then part as Temesvár to Austria-Hungary. After the Second World War, he played under the name CA Timişoara in Romania. During the 1920s, he could not prevail against the local competition of Chinezul Timişoara and qualify for the final round of the Romanian football championship. When the Divizia A was founded in 1932, CAT was not one of the party. Nationally, the club made ​​the first time in the Romanian Cup 1933/34, attention to himself, as he was able to win 9-0 against Sportul Studenţesc and move into the second round. There he was eliminated by eventual finalists Universitatea Cluj. One year later this success was repeated.

With the establishment of Divizia B in 1934 CAT participated in the nationwide league play. Both in the season 1934/35 and in the following season, the club placed at the lower end of the table. In 1936 the club merged with local rivals RGM Timişoara Timişoara CAM and broke up with it.
