Cabasse, Var

Cabasse is a commune in the Var department in the Provence- Alpes- Côte d' Azur. It belongs to the district Brignoles and Canton Besse -sur -Issole.

Geography

The village with 1968 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) is located in the historic area Provence, located in the valley of the river Issole on the A8 motorway between Cannes and Aix -en- Provence.

History

Cabasse existed under the name Matavo already in Gallo-Roman times the viaduct of the Via Aurelia on the Issole. Numerous documents from this period, including a necropolis and a mausoleum were found here.
