Cacho Tirao

Cacho Tirao (actually: Oscar Emilio Tirao; born April 5, 1941 in Berazategui, Buenos Aires, † 20 May, 2007 Buenos Aires ) was an Argentine guitarist and composer of folk music.

Life and work

Oscar " Cacho " Tirao began at the age of four years, to play guitar and joined soon after the first mail on the radio. 16- year old, he played in the orchestra of the Teatro Argentino de La Plata. From 1968 to 1971 he belonged to the famous quintet of Astor Piazzolla. He worked with Osvaldo Tarantino, Dino Saluzzi and Rodolfo Mederos and accompanied Josephine Baker.

As a soloist he played strange and self-composed tangos, milongas, Sambas, Cuecas, Chacareras and various other musical genres. Among his outstanding compositions include " La Milonga de Don Taco ", in memory of his father, dedicated to his grandson "Milonga del niño Deseado " and the bossa nova " Sonveri ", which in 1980 at CBS on the best- of- album " Selección Especial de Cacho Tirao "was released.

Cacho Tirao took 36 records on his first was in 1971 "Mi guitarra, tú y yo", his last in 2006 " Renacer ", as he had to overcome a partial paralysis following a stroke. His gefeiertstes work is the Concerto for guitar and symphony orchestra " Conciertango Buenos Aires", which appeared in Belgium in 1985. Tirao reached in the Argentina of the 1970s greatest prominence when he challenged the series' Recitales Espectaculares "; one of his records was in 1978 sold more than 1 million times.

Cacho Tirao died in 2007 of a heart attack.
