Cà dlà g
As Càdlàg function ( also Cadlag ) ( French: " à droite continue, limite à gauche " ) refers to a function that is defined on the real numbers or a subset thereof, and satisfies the following properties:
- At any point on the left - and right-hand limits of the function exist, and
- For all points x
The term Càdlàg is a French acronym of "continue à droite, limite à gauche " ( right-continuous with left limits). The space of all Càdlàg functions on an interval is often referred to. Analogous to the Càdlàg functions you can also define left continuous Làdcàg / Càglàd functions.
From its definition it follows that a cumulative distribution function is always a Càdlàg function.
Stochastic Processes
A stochastic process is called càdlàg, when almost every path is right-continuous and left-sided limits exist.
