Cadmium stearate is a chemical compound from the group of cadmium compounds and fatty acid salts.
Properties
Cadmium stearate is the cadmium salt of stearic acid. It is a white oily powder, which is insoluble in water. Intense heating of the compound, it decomposes, which among other things, cadmium oxide is formed.
Use
Cadmium stearate was used as a plastic stabilizer, and sheltered by analogous barium, lead and copper salts PVC and other plastics to light influences. It ensures lasting transparency and simultaneously causes improve weather resistance. Due to the toxicity of cadmium today replacement materials are used here.
