Caedmon 's Call are an American rock band.

Style

The music from Caedmon 's Call is called Contemporary Christian. Both influences from the folk rock genre and from the alternative rock can be seen. The lyrics of their songs lean heavily on the Christian faith. Thus, their songs tell both of fictional stories ( 'Bus Driver' ) as well as real experiences that have been processed in the songs ( ' center aisle '). Both songs were written by Derek Webb ( see below).

Band History

Caedmon 's Call was founded in 1993 by four founding members, Cliff Young, Danielle Glenn, Todd Bragg, and Aaron Tate, in Houston, Texas. However, Aaron Tate never intended to travel with the band and was "only" active as a songwriter. Derek Webb was formerly part of the band, even though he never met all the band members.

In June 1994, the band recorded their first album with the name " My Calm / / Your Storm", which was originally a cassette demo recording.

In 1996 the band signed with the defunct Christian label Warner Alliance a contract and produced their eponymous album. At this time, Randy Holsapple joined the band. After the dissolution of Warner Alliance in 1998 Caedmon 's Call signed by the label Essential Records, where she remained until May 2006.

In summer 1999, Aric and Randy left the band, while Josh and Jeff permanent members were. 2003, following the successful release of the album "Back Home", Derek left the band to start a solo career.

In spring 2004 Andrew Osenga joined the band, former lead singer of the band "The Normals ". Aaron Tate and Derek Webb shared the most songwriting work to the album "Back Home", whose songs were written by various authors rather. Randall Goodgame was in the following years for songwriter of the band. Published in 2004 Caedmon 's Call her album " Share The Well ", which was greeted with applause, but never really got to the public, on the radio or in stores. The songs of the album " Share The Well ", written by Randall Goodgame, Andrew Osenga (guitar) and Josh Moore (Keys), the travel document of the band to India, Brazil and Ecuador and deal among other things with the famine, and with the little-known battle of the Dalits in India for freedom.
