However, resistance in the population, which was overcome only after long negotiations suggested. After a construction period of three years and numerous test drives the lane trolleybus was finally opened on 18 November 2002. To date, a total of 15.7 kilometers of track have been put into operation, at which the two lines A and B operate. Also planned was an extension of the line A.

A high -frequency drive, the track trolley with an average of 34,000 passengers daily to a good use. Thus, the transport numbers were increased compared to the period before the introduction of the system by 14 percent. The increase is distributed differently. During the week around ten percent more passengers were counted, the proportion rose on Sundays at up to 50 percent. Overall, the track trolley has a 42 percent share of the total passenger volume in 2003.

On December 14, 2011, decided to shut down the track trolleybus system in 2016 and to build a conventional tram on the same route until 2018. Because of the high likelihood of punctures, which can lead to capacity problems during rush hour too, and the high maintenance costs of 500,000 euros, the originally expected financial benefit of the trolleybus has reversed.
