Caerphilly (Welsh Caerffili ) is a town in Wales, United Kingdom with 31,060 inhabitants ( 2001).

Caerphilly is the namesake and largest city within the county of Caerphilly. It lies in the Rhymney Valley in South Wales Coalfield nearly seven miles north of Cardiff. She is known by its medieval fortress - a moated castle called Caerphilly Castle. The city is also origin and namesake of the cheese Caerphilly, who is also the occasion for the summer annual Big Cheese Festival, which up to 80,000 people visited in recent years.

Twinning

Caerphilly has twinned with Ludwigsburg, which was founded in 1960. Other partnerships exist: since 1991 with the French town of Lannion in Brittany since 1994 with the Czech Pisek.
