Caesar Must Die ( Cesare deve morire ) is an Italian docu-drama from 2012.

The film was premiered on 11 February 2012 at the 62nd International Film Festival Berlin and there received the main prize of the festival. In September 2012, Cesare deve morire was as the official candidate of Italy selected in an Oscar nomination in the category Best Foreign Language Film, but did not get shortlisted.

A German theatrical release took place on December 27, 2012.

Content

In the film William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar by prisoners in a prison in Rome is staged. Shown are both the sample and the actual performance of the play.

Some scenes are painted in black and white.
