Production and representation
Cesium sulfate can be obtained by the reaction of cesium chloride, or cesium carbonate, or with sulfuric acid Caesiumhydrosulfat.
It is also produced during the digestion of pollucite with sulfuric acid.
Properties
Cesium sulfate is a white solid which is soluble in water. It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with space group Pmcn. At 667 ° C, the compound is transferred into a high temperature mold having a hexagonal crystal structure with space group P3m1.
Use
Cesium is used for the preparation of density gradient in the ultracentrifuge separation.
