Cáhita

The Cahita are a group of Native American tribes from the Uto- Aztec language family. The Cahita consist of the tribes of the Bamoa, Cinaloa, Mayo, Tehueco, Yaqui and Zuaque. They live in the southwestern Sonora and northwestern Sinaloa, Mexico. A smaller group of Yaqui lives in the southwestern United States. Today there are about 40,000 members of the tribal group.

The Cahita built in the fertile river valleys of corn and cotton. In the less favored parts of their land they roamed in small groups around as hunter-gatherers.

The Cahita belonged to the North American cultural area of ​​the Southwest.
