Caílte mac Rónáin

Caílte mac Rónáin [' kail ʴ t ʴ e mak' ro ː na ː n ʴ ], also Caoilte, the Finn cycle of Celtic mythology of Ireland is the name einens member of the Fianna.

Mythology

Caílte mac Rónáin is the nephew and follower of Fionn mac Cumhaill, leader of the Fianna. He is famous for his ability of the wind running fast, speaking with the animals and as a storyteller.

In the story Acallam na Senórach ( " The conversation with the old man " ) is reported that Caílte and his cousin Oisín meet the Saint Patrick of Ireland in very old age. They accompany him on his journey through Ireland and tell him all the mythical traditions of the places visited.

In Welsh legend Culhwch ac Olwen it corresponds Sgilti Ysgafndroed, the light-footed runner of King Arthur.
