Caipora

The Caipora or Caapora is a figure from the Tupi- Guarani mythology of the Amazon region of Brazil. It protects the animals of the forest before the enactment of the hunter. He appears as a small, dark-skinned, very hairy Indian who rides a peccary and people who encounter him, always asking for tobacco for his pipe. Does it get any, so he is inclined to malicious pranks. Other defenders of the nature of the Amazon are the Curupira and the white deer APPENDIXA.
