The Čair Stadium (Serbian: Стадион Чаир, Stadium Čair ), usually as Čair [ tschair ] known, is a football stadium in Nis, the third largest city of Serbia. In the 18,151 spectators offered a venue for the football club Radnički Niš denies its home games. It is part of Čair 's sports complex, where the sports hall Čair and a swimming pool are connected.

One of the most important game that were played in the stadium was the semi-final first leg between the home team and Hamburger SV in the UEFA Cup 1981/82.

Since 2011, the stadium will be completely renovated to become the UEFA security standards for national and international football events justice. After the renovation, the stadium will have a capacity of over 25,000 seats.

History

The stadium was commissioned in 1963 and is operated by the local football club Radnički Niš since 1969. One of the most important game that were played in the stadium was the semi-final first leg between the home team and Hamburger SV in the UEFA Cup 1981/82. Since 1995 the operator to use the east and north stand was prohibited for safety reasons. The prohibition of use in 2008 was extended to the South Stand. Since 2011, the stadium will be completely renovated to become the UEFA security standards for national and international football events justice.

For the renovation of the Serbian government and the city of Niš granted about 1.1 billion Serbian dinars ( 11 million euros ). On the part of the Serbian Football Association to host the World Cup qualifying match against Scotland on March 23, 2013 was planned in Čair Stadium after the renovation, but the game was moved to Novi Sad, since the renovation has not been completed, where the game in Karađorđe stadium was discharged and Serbia won 2-0 later.

The stadium was, however, released for the domestic league and the 15th September 2012 it was officially opened with the game against FK Smederevo. While were only the West and the Südtribünen released, but Radnički Niš won the game before 7,000 spectators 1-0. On 18 December, the City of Niš announced that they will provide additional 250 million Serbian dinars (about 250,000 euros) available to support the extension of the West Stand by about 9,500 seats.

Thus, after the completion of the stadium the seating capacity will be about 25,000. In the following league games, the stadium also received two major clubs from Belgrade, Partizan and Red Star. The stadium was sold out and with support from the home supporters was also the most successful club Red Star defeated 2-1.
