The Cairo International Stadium (Arabic ستاد القاهرة الدولي ) is with a spectator capacity of 74,100 seats after the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria, the second largest stadium in Egypt. It was begun in 1956, completed in 1960 and inaugurated by President Gamal Abdel Nasser on 23 July of the same year, the eighth anniversary of the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. Architect of the stadium was the German Werner March, who had built 1932-1936 the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

It is currently used mostly for football matches, but separates a career in athletics events, the spectators from the lawn. The stadium was renovated in order to prepare for the Africa Cup of 2006. It is located about eight kilometers from Cairo Airport and fourteen kilometers from the center of Cairo.
