Čakov (České Budějovice District)

Čakov ( German United Cekau, also Großtschekau ) is a Czech village with 238 inhabitants ( 31 December 2007). It is located 12 km west of České Budějovice in 450 m above sea level, on the edge of Blanský in České Budějovice.

Similarly, 2.5 km west Holašovice the 1262 first mentioned Čakov is a typical village with old farmhouses.

The center of the village is the early Gothic St. Linhardskirche, in the tomb of Jiří Čakovec is Bohuslavice from the year 1529. Other sculptures from the 16th century, the holy Linhart, Prokop and Korbinian represent, as well as a statue of the Madonna from the 15th century are today in the South Bohemian Gallery Alšova issued Vltavou Hluboká nad.

In the north of community recreation area is located on the pond Dehtář.

The municipality Čakov the districts include Holubovská Basta ( Baschten ) and Čakovec (small Cekau, Kleintschekau ).
