Călărași County

Calarasi [ kələraʃ ʲ ] is a Romanian county ( Judet ) in the Walachia region, with the county town Calarasi. Its common abbreviation and the license plate number are CL.

The county is bordered on the north by the Calarasi county Ialomiţa, on the east by the county Constanta, on the south by Bulgaria, on the west by the circles Giurgiu and Ilfov.

Demography

In 2002, the county 324 629 inhabitants and a population density of 64 inhabitants per km ².

2011 had 306 691 inhabitants of the district Calarasi thus a population density of about 60 inhabitants per km ².

Geography

The county has a total area of ​​5088 km ², representing 2.1 % of the area of Romania. In the Wallachian Plain, the circle is on the left side of the Danube.

The circle consists of Calarasi officially 166 villages. Of these, five city status, 50 to a community. The rest are assigned to administrative cities and towns.
